Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP)
What Is It?

DPP is a year-long program for people at risk for type 2 diabetes. This program has been shown to reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes by 58%! This is a national program that is supported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The Sky Lakes Wellness Center and the Living Well Coalition are excited to work together to bring this program to our community!

Who Qualifies?

  • Those diagnosed with prediabetes
  • Those with a history of gestational diabetes
  • Those who are at high risk for developing type 2 diabetes. The American Diabetes Association has an online screening tool to see if you are at risk. High risk means scoring 5 or higher on this risk test.

When Does It Start?

The program will begin three times in 2018. Check out the calendar for dates. It consists of 26 sessions over 12 months. The class will be limited to 15 participants.

How Much Does It Cost?

We are fortunate to have received a grant to help with the cost of starting the program in our community. Because of that, the classes this year will be offered at no cost to participants. This is such as great opportunity! The DPP is one of the few proven methods to help people actually prevent type 2 diabetes!
